Learning from the Past

Mountain Valley Archaeology works with communities in and around the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge to discover, understand, and promote cultural heritage through education, citizen science, and focused research.

The goals of MVA:

To promote the scientific and ethical study of archaeology, especially, but not limited to, the cultures of the Middle Atlantic Uplands

To partner with descendant communities in the design and implementation of archaeological research

To develop citizen science projects that increase the accessibility of archaeology to the public

To promote the spread of archaeological knowledge through the media of publication, meetings, lectures, trainings, and exhibits.

We are a 501(c)3 organization and have a lot of plans and activities in the works. Thank you for your interest.
